For the Love of Hou Yi

On the night of 19th July 1969, Houston told the Apollo 11 crew, “Among the large headlines concerning Apollo this morning, is one asking that you watch for a lovely girl with a big rabbit. An ancient legend says a beautiful Chinese girl called Chang’e has been living there for 4,000 years. It seems she was banished to the Moon because she stole the pill of immortality from her husband.

You might also look for her companion, a large Chinese rabbit, who is easy to spot since he is always standing on his hind feet in the shade of a cinnamon tree. The name of the rabbit is not reported.”

Michael Collins replied, “Okay. We'll keep a close eye out for the bunny girl.”

Tonight, on 30th July 2018, I thought, “Hey! You guys need to bring along a highly spiritual person with an opened “Third Eye” to be able to see Chang’e and the Jade Rabbit. And you got the story wrong. Chang’e was not banished to the Moon.”

In the ancient past, an unexpected calamity came to Earth. Ten suns rose above the horizon and stayed there for days and nights. Extreme heat-ravaged the Earth, wilting fields of grain, drying up rivers, and even melting forged metal. Beneath the scorching rays, people knelt down and prayed hard to the Emperor God, Di Jun for help.

Revisiting Pavilion KL Mall

It has been four years since I last wrote about Pavilion KL (refer to page 45, March 2014 Issue), one of the main malls in Kuala Lumpur’s Bukit Bintang area. After dropping by ABC Café at Pavilion KL, my interest in the Feng Shui of this mall was piqued again. The sky bridge linking Jalan Raja Chulan to the mall is curved as it approaches the mall preventing Sha Qi from building up, which is what happens with a straight bridge.

Eyebrows have long been symbols of beauty. Since the Tang Dynasty, women have been grooming their eyebrows. During that era, women shaped their eyebrows to be sharp, pointed and dark. This is often referred to as “dot eyebrow.” Since then the obsession with beautiful brows have spawned new techniques from threading, plucking, tattooing and painting to eyebrow transplants and microblading.
