GREGOR AND THE GLOBE OF DEATH…

Gregor Reynolds
Barnum And Reynolds

When I was a young tacker it was a big deal when the circus came to town. During my primary school years I reckon I went to every circus that came through town with my grandpa. My Pa loved the circus! He would buy us ringside seats and get right into the performance. Every time a new clown appeared, or a performer was about to do something, Pa would dig me in the ribs with his elbow and say excitedly, “Lookit this fella, lookit this fella!”

When the lion tamer or animal trainer was on, Pa would yell out “Goodonya Captain!” and clap loudly every time one of the tired old lions did a trick. His other favourite was to shout “Holy Goko” every time something amazing, tricky or unexpected happened. His enthusiasm infected me as a young kid and I grew up with a real fondness for the circus. Of course, Pa’s antics sometimes embarrassed me as I got older and more self-conscious, but now they are treasured memories because I never saw him as excited or animated as he was on circus night.

Keeping Girls On Motorcycles

On any given weekend at your local motorcycle club, you will see throngs of kids blasting around on dirt bikes having a great time. More often than not, it’s at these local club tracks where kids are introduced to motorbikes. Boys and girls (under 10 years old) get out there and simply enjoy riding their bike without too much competition. Not many of the kids or parents care where they finish in the pack — it’s just about having fun.
