SB: Hi evryone! Welcome to another Insightful episode of FINtastic Talks for which all you have been giving a lot of love and affection. We have come so far only because of your appreciation and the marvelous audience we are getting in each episode. Last time we had 7000 LIVE viewers, most of our programs are now being watched with 20 to 50,000 just in a couple of months. Today we have one of the superstars of the mutual fund industry with us today. He is a CFA charter holder, a chartered accountant, and an amazing human being. So without saying too much, I will let him do his introduction.
NM: Thank you so much Sanjiv, it’s always a pleasure to talk to you and Rajiv, all good friends and so many of my good friends at Bajaj capital. I’ve been an admirer of your founder Mr. KK Bajaj. I think he is a legend, far ahead of his time starting a financial planning and distribution business in the 1960s. If I remember correctly, that speaks volumes of his vision and I compliment all of you on building a franchise and it’s a big household name across the country. So kudos to you guys!
SB: Yes Navneet, elaborating on the same there are other initiatives, for example- make your children crorepati through SIP was actually conceived by him. And he says, You don’t become old, you became outdated. So this is a value we have lived by and have updated ourselves ever since. So just tell us about yourself, your journey, your childhood, and your parents.
NM: Sure Sanjiv, I come from a small town in Rajasthan, a place called Beavar in Ajmer district, as many might have heard of, and was lucky to be part of a family where my father inculcated the habit of having a curiosity, reading as much as you can.
I ended up doing my graduation, post-graduation, and chartered accountancy from the town. And luck had it I got 50th rank. Had I got one mark less I wouldn’t have got the rank and life would have taken a different turn altogether. So it just shows the role of luck in life and we should never forget that. I joined a company called Birla Growth Fund Limited. I spent 14 years in the group across all spheres of financial services. I have learned so much in these years. Then, briefly, I was in Morgan Stanley as Head of the Multi-Strategy Boutique and then moved to SBI Mutual Fund between 2008 and 21. Here, a little over 12 years, I was with a great bunch of people driven by passion and saw great success. Also, everyone in financial services in India has an aspiration to be associated with HDFC Mutual Funds Group and I was so fortunate that I got this opportunity. It indeed is an honor and a privilege to serve HDFC Mutual Fund.

All That You Need To Know About Health Insurance Plans Before Buying Them
The right amount of health insurance coverage goes a long way in keeping your investments and life goals on track. In the absence of health insurance, one may have to dip into existing investments thus jeopardising the goals such as children education, home buying etc. Buying health insurance has always been looked upon as a risk mitigating tool to tackle increasing medical costs.
Power Of Good Financial Habits
“People do not decide their futures, they decide their habits and their habits decide their futures.” The above quote from F.M. Alexander has struck a chord with me for various reasons. Among other things, I think, the power of good habits in the world of finance is often ignored or not given its due importance as a force which can help in long-term wealth creation. Investors predominantly tend to focus on the technical aspects of finance, current market trends, trying to decode what the experts are saying on news channels, etc. However, I would argue that adopting good financial habits alone is a sufficient condition for a lay investor to secure his or her financial future.
