If there is a philosophy that architect and designer Kelly Kawahara Cheah lives by, it is the firm belief of communicating her client’s “brand” and personality through a design approach that’s mindful of the finest details. “We design from the perspective of space branding, and we apply it to our client’s space, be it in a home or commercial space,” says Cheah, who is the founding principal of K2SD Group. This has helped the firm to thrive in a highly competitive market by reimagining how space should be—not just as a beautiful or comfortable place to live within, but a place that truly represents its clients.
From architecture and interior design to styling, Cheah works her way meticulously through every element to achieve a made-to-measure result for each project. She fondly recalls a project in which a client ordered a custom Gold Moon Chandelier from Catellani & Smith in Italy—she specified the exact dimensions for each of the 35 pendant lights so that when the lamps finally arrived, they fit exactly into the space as she had envisioned.
