Bah Humbug!
Surrey Life|December 2017

This month, BBC Surrey Breakfast Show host, James Cannon, is reeling after an unfortunate mistake, which means Christmas will be cancelled in his household this year.

James Cannon
Bah Humbug!

AS you can tell from the front cover of Surrey Life this is our Christmas edition. In our house, Christmas doesn’t start until after my youngest son’s birthday on December 9. Until then we are not allowed to display anything that reflects the festive season. Christmas cards are banned along with tree and tinsel.

This of course is not true for advertisers. The TV went bonkers for Christmas just after the Surrey-based Great British Bake off winner was revealed (a touch early thanks to Pru Leith on Twitter!) back at the end of October. Overnight we were deluged with ads showing overladen tables of turkey and trimmings, perfect snow scattered scenes and lots of soft focused, slightly smug, smiley faces which are normally confined to the Werther’s Original commercials.
