As the world is slowly moving towards digital technology, both design freedom and efficiency has increased. But at the same time they are also getting more accelerated and complicated. Nonetheless design outcomes are evolving to be more efficient, more sustainable and more humane. It has allowed for design to become an interactive, generative and reactive process rather the one of evolution; often understood to have been closer to nature. Such tools transform complex issues into rational, simple decisions.
Ar Abhinav Goyal is focused at creating designs and installations using computational form finding, optimisation and digital fabrication. His approach is to develop design in parametric /generative space, material studies, design analysis, cost optimisation and using digital fabrication technologies for manufacturing. His firm, FORMFORgE offers services ranging from architectural design, design computing, digital fabrication, product development and prototyping. His work is artistic yet more scientific, environmentally responsible and humanly more interactive. What inspired you to choose the field of architecture and design?
I was inclined towards the making process and arts from an early age and as I became more conscious of the world we inhibit, I became intrigued by the creative process behind the structures we inhabit, the spaces we fill, the rooms we visit. Design is integral to modern life, and modern expression. I chose architecture as it has a multidisciplinary approach and it is constantly evolving.
Which materials constitute your designs, mainly? Please illustrate about the products shared.
Our design process involves computation simulations and reverse engineering where we can perform test and analysis on any form and material type. We can use wood and Laser CNC on almost all kind of materials that are available these days. We mostly use wood and metal as they are very flexible with engineering and fabrication. Sheet metal such as corten and stainless steel have excellent outdoor properties and can be used for creating large scale installations efficiently.

AR CHRISTOPHER BENNINGER CREATES RS 700 CR SASSOON HOSPITAL PLAN | PUNE
Veteran architect Christopher Benninger has created an ambitious Rs 700 Cr plan for the redevelopment of Sassoon Hospital, Pune out of which Rs 100 Cr has already been sanctioned by Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar for the initial phase. According to the hospital authorities, the Master Plan is created to develop the hospital for the next hundred years. The plan was submitted to the state and the phase-wise development will commence with the construction of hostels for postgraduate doctors and nurses.
