Who I am is a creative who is forever contemplating new ideas. At night, in my dreams, my imagination runs wild. I move furniture around, resolve design issues, sculpt, create stories, paint and design clothes and jewellery; and do all the things I would love to have time for during the day. I am a people lover, a people enabler and a people pleaser – and a shameless workaholic.

My professional motto is come to work to be excellent.

My personal home style is a modern, contemporary industrial take with black slate floors and ceilings, mampara brick – flush-jointed red clay brick – and off-shutter concrete. It’s a collection of very old items from days long gone, my family kist, old Art Deco chairs and my eclectic art collection.

Architecturally, my architect and friend Mabette Vermaak was the best thing that happened to this build. Her creativity in devising the open spine that runs through the entire home was phenomenal, separating the old from the young, giving room to breathe, grow, develop, love, live, play and enjoy volume and light, while being private and allowing the gardens to grow into the house.

The thing I like about this style is it’s totally personalisable.

My home is important to me because I love coming home through the open spine lined with art. I love the kitchen – its absolute simplicity and beauty all dressed in black with a stainless steel top. I also love the patio. Our stand has beautiful greenbelt views, right on a dam with distant sea views.
