Designer fireplaces are all the rage. Not only are they a delight for the eyes, but they’re designed with the modern home in mind (think clean, simple lines and contemporary materials), built to complement their surroundings, and make a statement.

WONDEROUS WOOD

Whether it’s for a classic-styled home or an ultra-modern space, a traditional wood stove is a timeless piece that can easily be the heart of any room.

Malcolm Sims of Infiniti Fires points out: “Our homes are becoming increasingly modern in design and furnishings, creating a demand for wood stoves to complement this. These units have clean lines, large glass to see the flames through, and for a smarter effect, they have black border glass on the door.

“The demand is fairly equally split between built-in versions for those clients who have an existing chimney, or freestanding units for those who don’t.”

The new locally made 14kW wood stove – available in three freestanding and two built-in options – is quite popular because of its clean aesthetics and standard glass or black border glass feature. These units also all have a single lever that optimises the air flow for an impressive burn rate, says Sims.
