Vibrant shades from their childhoods inform a New York couple's colour choices in their bright Brooklyn abode

OVER THE RAINBOW

Heritage home When choosing a colour palette, look to your heritage and favourite childhood memories, and you are likely to find colours that will bring you happiness. For the kitchen cabinets of their Brooklyn dwelling, Megan O'Neill's husband Jesse went for his favourite colour - a rich fuchsia shade that reminded him of a 1959 magenta Cadillac his father owned when he was a child.

Who lives here? Megan O'Neill, senior beauty editor at Goop, her husband, Jesse Bull, and their baby.

WHEN GOOP BEAUTY EDITOR Megan O'Neill and her husband Jesse moved into their home in New York, they didn't hesitate to feather their nest with shades of vibrant colour. Rainbow hues, unique vintage finds and layered textiles reminiscent of their respective childhoods and heritages characterise their charming Brooklyn residence.

BIRDS OF A FEATHER Decorating the space was a labour of love that Megan and Jesse took together. Over the years, the couple travelled to vintage markets throughout New York, to Jesse's native Nashville - and when lockdown forced them indoors, they sourced their homewares from online antique stores. For Megan, whose family comes from Jamaica, bringing the bright colours of the Caribbean into her home gives her joy.
