Guy had the fire surround built in travertine to match the dining table. ‘We sourced a specific type of Italian travertine and had it cut in a specific way, but it was worth it to tie in the dining area,’ he says.

THE OWNERS
Interior designer Guy Wengraf, founder of Vitruvius & Company (vitruviusandco.com), designed the cottage. He lives in the adjacent 19th-century country house with his wife Kitty, founder of photographic agency Darling Creative, and their three children.
