A Passive Passion
Ireland's Homes Interiors & Living Magazine|October 2021
Embracing the adventure of a new build, Niamh and Mark have dreamt big, future-proofed their home and built a functional passive house specific to their own needs.

A Passive Passion
Situated near Dungarvan, on a site on Niamh’s home farm, this starkly modern passive certified new build is the innovative creation of Mark, a civil engineer and Niamh, a youth justice worker and the woman behind House Goals, a home design and planning agency.

Having completed one of the first passive design courses in Ireland, Mark is passionate about passive design and all the details. He has a lot of experience in house design, drawing and the build industry as well as a previous self-build. Using the contacts he has built up over time, Mark was able to source quality tradesmen and materials for this passive construction.

‘This was very important as the passive standard is so high and quality workmanship is key to the finish product receiving certification,’ explains Niamh.
