Bhyrav B.R. and Aatira L. Zacharias design Quissa Kawani in Church Street, Bengaluru. The restaurant revives old village memories and the feeling of pre-independence Delhi. The basic idea for the space was derived from client interpretation to create a very simple space. This place translates its own story with a small kitchen and a takeaway counter. Special seating area evokes restaurant bliss; and the aroma of tandoori parathas and biryani will definitely cast a magic spell.
The design literally originated from the earthen ‘tandoor’, flowing through to the brick floor and coming up as kulhads in the gabion wall partition between the kitchen and the eatery. Though small in size, the cuboidal space is rustic and earthy, minimal and contemporary all at once and packs a punch, just like its fare.

The sole aim behind this ‘home-sweet-home’ was to keep the social interaction between the family members alive. The form generated is a direct consequence of this, the context and the brief.
