Designing Effulgence
Insite|July 2018

Light is a factor that helps the eye perceive any design like it is and at the same time, carries the potential of enhancing the perception of it. With lighting-designs that keep it subtle as well as leave the eyes awestruck, Klaasen Lighting Design adds magic to each of their projects.

Designing Effulgence

Lighting is very visual and therefore demands highly experienced designers to maximise the benefits of good lighting design. In today’s time of constantly evolving technologies, lighting design is a very valuable discipline for any project. Martin Klaasen illustrates how lighting allows to create that added value, that magical ‘wow’ by very simple means. Today’s LED lighting systems are smart and intelligent, adding an extra dimension to lighting design. “Lighting design is for the people. Regardless of the type of project, the focus is always on people. We design for people not for lux meters. This means that aspects such as visual comfort, validation of the space, cultural background, the ease of wayfinding and other human design factors are our number one priority in lighting design,” shares Martin.

Smart Urban Design Statement

Imagine an abode premeditated for a family of three generations (and a probable fourth in the near future). ‘Never-Apart-ment’ is located in a dense layout of the new development engulfing the city of Hyderabad. The architects of this project Baba Sashank and Vindhya Guduru, the founders of Spaceficition Studio, masterminded the primary outcome of the concept that will be overcoming the drawbacks of a vertical settlement. The sole aim behind this ‘home-sweet-home’ was to keep the social interaction between the family members alive. The form generated is a direct consequence of this, the context and the brief.
