On the make Buyers and curators from around the globe will come to London’s Collect show this spring to see cutting-edge craft and design. We meet some of the Scottish artists whose work will be on view.
Craft used to be clunky stuff you picked up at market stalls and Christmas fetes. Not any more. The applied arts these days are on another level altogether. There is a new tribe of ceramicists, furniture makers, silversmiths and textile designers making bold, vibrant pieces that are worthy of international museum collections. And many of these makers live and work in Scotland. Fifteen of them, from across the creative disciplines, will be representing Craft Scotland at Collect 2019, the international art fair for modern craft and design in London this spring.
