EXTERIOR

The house has panoramic views of the local valley, which is filled with organic olive groves

SITTING ROOM

It is pieces like this sculptural lamp that introduce a beautiful modernity to the ancient farmhouse. Kabuki floor lamp by Ferruccio Laviani for Kartell

EXTERIOR

The drive up to the villa (above right) is lined with mature cypress trees. Lauren planted the gravel garden with drought-tolerant plants.

DINING ROOM

The amazing views from all of the glazing provide the decoration here. Custom-made oak and steel table, source similar at Maisons du Monde. Lia dining chairs by Roberto Barbieri for Zanotta

SITTING ROOM

This space, like every room, was kept sparse to highlight the beauty of the farmhouse's original 14th-century architecture. The daybed was custom-made. Berlino armchair in leather by Paola Navone for Baxter. Source a similar rug from Oka

SITTING ROOM

The abstract art is a striking foil to the lime chalk-painted walls. Tapestry by Palmisano weavers, a reproduction of artwork by František Kupka, available from Arredamenti Santiccioli. Citadel sofa, Perch & Parrow, is similar

For 10 years the Chianti farmhouse that Lauren Clancy shares with her husband stood empty. Last renovated in 1973, the property was a neglected mess of broken tiles, avocado bath fittings, and warrenlike rooms. Although we knew it would require a huge amount of imagination and work, we immediately had a vision for it. It absolutely seduced us,' says Lauren.
