It’s always fun to imagine what it would be like to live somewhere exotic,” says Tim Davison, who spends his life travelling in his role as a ship’s captain. “But after looking at Mallorca and New Zealand, my wife Su and I decided North Yorkshire was the place for us. My family’s there, and we love being near the coast and the moors, plus the ease of transport.”
The couple weren’t looking for a project, but then they found a two-bedroom bungalow on six acres. “The property just lent itself to what we wanted to achieve,” says Tim. That work included a total remodel, including an extension where the dining area is now and a new upper storey with bedroom dormers under a new roof. The exterior is all about clean lines and substantial glazing, which has transformed the original modest single-storey property into an impressive and spacious four-bedroom home.
