Artist Soh Ee Shaun talks about his signature style of vivid colours and abstract shapes and how artworks add to interior spaces.

Colours can affect our moods in a big way, as artist Soh Ee Shaun knows all too well. Seeing his works in his trademark riot of colors and abstract shapes displayed in various settings, it is hard not to be uplifted. His most recent commission was for Shake Shack’s store in Vivocity. We talk to the artist-educator at the School of the Arts (SOTA) Singapore about his work and how to introduce vibrant colours into interior spaces.

WHAT ARE YOUR FAVOURITE MEDIUMS, AND HOW LONG HAVE YOU BEEN CREATING ART?

It’s been almost 16 years since I started doing art. Since I create illustrations and paintings, I work both digitally and with acrylic and household paints. In my latest paintings, I’ve been using watercolours. I currently teach visual art at SOTA.
