MODERN REVAMP Homeowner, Ludivine, an interior designer, has imbued her impeccable style in this stunning 19th-century home in Bordeaux, France, that she shares with her husband Stéphane and their four daughters, Lola, Léane, Lison and Rose-Lou, and their son Jules (opposite). The decor is a sophisticated assortment of colours and textures, which are anchored with well-chosen furniture and objects in a mostly black-and-white palette, as seen here in the family’s characterful dining room with original fireplace (below). Stéphane custom-made the steel dining table, which is complemented by the Jose Esteves ceiling lamp above, and the black AM.PM dining chairs from La Redoute. >
Ludivine and her husband Stéphane fell under the spell of their 19th century home six years ago, when they moved in with their five children. The couple has worked together on numerous renovation projects before, and the prospect of converting old run-down houses into stylish and comfortable homes is always a welcome challenge. This particular challenge is undoubtedly one of the prettiest addresses in the French city of Bordeaux, which is home to graceful streets lined with classical buildings featuring 18th-century facades. Enter the green residential district of Le Bouscat, and the buildings are no less grand, including Ludivine and Stéphane’s old mansion.
