Earliest gardening memory Our family garden consisted mostly of lawns with a large, rather weedy border. The annual weeding of this space for a small payment was my earliest experience.

First plant love Seeing the sea of Hyacinthoides non-scripta rushing down the valley at Rannerdale in the Lake District takes my breath away. I still try to see them every year.
