It is very rare for a canine or feline to have a heart attack like a human, as we never see blockage of the coronary artery by cholesterol in dogs and cats. There are cases of acute heart failure in animals that appear healthy, where the chordae (the "strings" keeping the valve in place) can rupture, resulting in critical heart failure, but this is not common.
