CREATE A MOVABLE FEAST

If you know you’re going to move, plan to take your garden with you!

CREATE A MOVABLE FEAST

Just because you rent your home, it doesn’t mean you can’t have a garden. While rental rules generally say you can’t install anything that’s permanent, the easy way around this is to build a garden you can pack up with all your other stuff and take with you when you move!

SNAP TOGETHER A GREENHOUSE

An off-the-shelf, self-supporting greenhouse – here sitting atop a level bed of mostly pebbles – will give you edibles year-round by protecting seedlings from the elements and night-time marauders. And, if you get frosts, use it to tuck in susceptible plants for the winter.

PUT IN A PORTABLE SHED

Storage is almost always a problem, and a small, lightweight, easy-to-assemble shed will house fertilizers, potting mixes, pots, and tools, freeing up the garden for… your garden. And, because it’s not fixed – here, sitting on timber sleepers rather than a concrete slab – it’s easy to move.

SHOVEL IT

Every renter needs a general-purpose digging tool that is both lightweight and easy to use – ideal for working in your movable garden. Cyclone post hole shovel, $48, from Bunnings.
