WHAT HAS INFORMED AND INSPIRED YOUR INTERIORS STYLE? HAS THIS EVOLVED OVER TIME?
Our approach was to create an office environment that feels more home than work, a relaxed place to welcome clients and one the team can feel inspired by.
WHAT INITIALLY APPEALED TO YOU ABOUT THE SITE OF YOUR OFFICE?
The fact that the office was right in the heart of the ‘old rag trade’ hub of Melbourne was appealing to us. The area is now the perfect combination of location and amenity. The building itself is the former Bank of New South Wales, with enormous charm including the birdcage lift. Our approach was to maintain the open warehouse-style integrity and add a few modern updates.
WHAT WERE SOME OF THE REQUIREMENTS FOR YOUR OFFICE AND HOW WERE THESE REFLECTED IN THE DESIGN BRIEF?
We wanted flexibility in the floorplan and to maximise the light and give access to windows with natural cross ventilation. Our boardroom is effectively a ‘black-out box’ that cocoons and is very intimate. A second smaller space is a lounge for quiet thinking and doubles for private web-conferencing.
