Such an honor to have you on Muscle & Fitness Hers, everyone has their own special story about how they got involved in health and fitness. Could you tell us a little bit about your journey to where you are today? Thank you! I am so excited and honored to have the chance to share my story! I was active as a child, but I gradually let that slide as a teenager into my university days, and by the time I entered my academic career 6 years after finishing high school, I had gained a lot of weight. 40 plus pounds actually. I love dancing and performing so I tried a bunch of styles before entering pole sports and I love the sport so much that I really wanted to train hard to get better at it. That goal helped me commit to making lifestyle changes which allowed me to lose more than the 40 pounds I had gained and keep it off for 2 years now. I think being able to do stuff I thought I’d never be able to do is even more rewarding than the fat loss though. I hated running and couldn’t run more than 5 minutes without being gassed but now I can run two miles in less than 18 minutes! I never thought I’d be able to do a pull-up and now I can do 5 in a row! I really want to help others realize what they never dreamed possible, so in addition to keeping up with my training, I also own a pole studio called Brass Monkey Pole Sports and I have pursued my accreditation as a master trainer and as an international judge with POSA, the international pole organization.
