I love finding herbs that spice up our food and provide health benefits. Rosemary, an herb that is part of the same family as mint, is one of my favorites due to its myriad of potential benefits. My favorite applications of rosemary or rosemarybased nutrients are for two important areas of health— your eyes and your skin.
A native to the Mediterranean region, rosemary boasts centuries of acclaim for benefitting brain health and memory. This may be due to the active ingredient carnosic acid, an antioxidant that plays a role in multiple health benefits—especially when combined synergistically with other nutrients. Though it’s been long known for brain health, we have recently found benefits for multiple areas of the body including reducing inflammation, relieving pain, protecting the body from bacterial infections, and improving the immune system. Rosemary has also been used as an anti-aging herb for skin health and as an aide in detoxifying the body and skin.

Your Anti-COVID-19 Menu – WHAT TO EAT NOW!

Though we haven’t fully cracked the code and the end of the pandemic still feels a long way off, we do understand the three most important things we can do right now to protect ourselves: tame the inflammation the virus takes advantage of; get underlying health problems under control; eat to feed the good bacteria in your gut so they can keep your immune system operating at its absolute peak.
COPING WITH THE LOSS OF Home for the Holidays
A wise man once wrote, there’s no place like home for the holidays, but this year, unfortunately that’s not the case. With the CDC recommending that we don’t head home this holiday season, the typically joyous time of year that we could all really use has to be put on pause.

As it turns out, though born of legitimate concerns, the impulse to discontinue gluten or dairy products is generally misguided, and may distract parents from truly important steps that can help kids to eat right, grow, and thrive.

The Firefghter's Warning
When I arrive at the scene, the old frame house on Chicago’s South Side is burning furiously. Smoke and embers dance crazily in the windy winter night. I give the order to unroll the hoses and then dash madly inside. I pull out three people and administer CPR to two of them before the ambulance arrives, rubber screeching on asphalt. When the blaze is finally under control, someone from the department comes up to me.
