‘Brand new’ 152s for Cambridge
The Cambridge Aero Club, founded in 1930, and celebrating its 90th Anniversary in 2020, has operated a fleet of Cessna aeroplanes since it retired its Tiger Moths and Austers in the 1950s. In recent years, the club been operating four Cessna 172s, and one elderly, leased Cessna 152, in addition to its Extra 200. However, in July the club introduced two ‘brand-new’ leased Cessna 152s, provided by Brinkley Aviation Ltd. These two C152s replace one of the C172s and the older C152.
The new Cessna 152s were imported by Andrew Brinkley who has completely remanufactured both aeroplanes, finishing them with modern avionics – glass displays – new leather seats, new carpets and interiors. Both aircraft are also considerably lighter because of the new instrumentation. The final step was matching resprays and consecutive aircraft registrations. The pair are proving very popular with both students and instructors alike.
