IN CONVERSATION WITH KARTIKEYA, EDITOR-IN-CHIEF, AVIATION UPDATE.
Dr. RAHUL SINGH SARDAR (MBBS, MRCA, FCAI.), DIRECTOR, ICATT

How did ICATT get started? Can you brief your professional journey to our readers?

ICATT was started by myself and Dr.Shalini Nalwad. We were preparing for our Final Fellowship (Anaesthesia and Critical-Care) exam in UK and had met at a Preparatory course for the exam in Liverpool. That is where we decided to start a dedicated Air Ambulance Service in India of the same standards as in UK. The plans for ICATT Air Ambulance service were laid out in a café in Liverpool.

We had more than a decade of experience each, in UK NHS, as we trained as Anaesthetists and Crtical-care Specialists and were part of the Aero-Medical services in the NHS in different Deaneries. We decided to move back with our families and relocate to our hometowns of Hyderabad and Bangalore respectively. We embarked on an extensive Market research within India initially to understand the competition and also the complexities of Aviation and Medicine.

So when people do things differently e.g. how people queue up or what we ascribe status to we try to educate them to do or see it our way. This is usually not well received and a conflict starts.
