Fashion, so we are told, always goes full circle. The trend with modern shotguns tends towards longer barrels, with 30in and 32in commonplace. The 25in and 26in barrels of 50 years ago are now unpopular. Some of this is due to the types of shooting that occur nowadays, with game shooters using heavier guns with long barrels for higher and higher birds, while clay shooters are using lighter cartridges. This has allowed makers to produce longer-barrelled guns in lighter weights that swing just as quickly as the shorter-barrelled guns of the past.
