From her first sizeable big-screen role as Pyaari Mhatre in Satya (1998) to the now iconic DCP Vartika Chaturvedi in the International Emmy Award-winning Netflix India series Delhi Crime in 2019, Shefali Shah’s filmography may not be voluminous, but it is packed with powerhouse performances. Committed to her craft, the National Award-winning actor embodies every character she plays. But it was in her portrayal of Chaturvedi, the Delhi police DCP—based on real-life police investigator Chhaya Sharma, who was in charge of investigating a gruesome gang-rape—that Shah found her steepest learning curve.
