The Diamond Origin Report service will continue to be an area of focus, along with several digital transformation initiatives - Sriram Natarajan

AOJ: In your new role as the Managing Director of GIA India, what are the major initiatives you would like to take up for benefitting the Gem & Jewellery Industry?

Sriram Natarajan: I am excited at the challenges and opportunities that this new role will be presenting me. It is a privilege to be succeeding Nirupa Bhatt, who has built a strong foundation and put together a strong leadership team.

As your readers might be aware, GIA’s mission is to ensure public trust in gems and jewellery. So, our focus would be to continue building on GIA’s mission by delivering accurate and consistent reports, offering GIA education to trade members, and extending GIA’s outreach to the industry and beyond.

Consumers now, more than ever, have a heightened awareness of sustainably and ethically sourced products. The GIA Diamond Origin Service is a step forward in this direction. Using GIA’s decades of research, the Diamond Origin Report service scientifically matches a polished diamond to its original rough, confirming the country of origin information provided by the miner. The Diamond Origin Report service will continue to be an area of focus, along with several digital transformation initiatives that GIA is working on.

AOJ: Given the current circumstances of Covid-19 Pandemic, what are the steps taken by GIA to ensure safety of its people?
