In sync with the global consumer, today’s Indian consumer has tastes that are affluent and experimental. With shifting trends from offline to online, brands are now recognizing the digital space and setting up their presence online.
India accounts for 13% of the global footwear production of 16 billion pairs. Ranging from dress shoes, casuals, moccasins, sport shoes, horrachies, sandals, ballerinas, boots, sandals and chappals, India exports an array of designs to adorn the feet of comfort as well as aesthetically inclined consumers.
With India’s growing economy and free trade, the number of brands has increased. Today, consumers are spoilt for choice as they have more product categories to go over. Earlier, one product served multiple consumer needs. Now, we have multiple brands and within them, multiple variant segments to suit consumer needs. Changes in the amount and types of leisure activities have resulted in a shift from a formal dressing code to a more casual one. The increased amount of leisure time that today’s consumer manages calls for suitable footwear to complement that relaxed persona.
