Coco's WORLD

Nothing is more beautiful than freedom of the body.” So said Coco Chanel, the orphan turned seamstress who would go on to become one of the most influential couturiers of all time. For her, fashion was about clean lines and easy elegance, but it was also a form of female emancipation. Long before sportswear and athleisure had their time in their sun, she was liberating women from the constraints of corsets, plying their clothing with practical pockets and giving them licence to wear the pants. The French designer created the original little black dress – fluid and figure-skimming rather than flouncy or cinched – and changed fashion forever with her tailored tweed suit.
