Bursting beyond the boundaries of space, for Dior Men’s Pre-Fall show 2021 collection, Kim Jones collaborated with American artist Kenny Scharf to bring fun back to fashion.

Two years ago, the Dior Men Pre-Fall show kickstarted the Art Basel Miami Beach festivities, bringing aficionados of both the fashion and art world together to the city. Kim Jones ambitiously wanted to present his Dior Men Pre-Fall show 2021 collection in Beijing, but when the plan was put to a halt due to the ongoing pandemic travel restrictions, Jones was forced to look up to the galaxy.

Masterminded by French director Thomas Vanz, the blacked-out room was transformed into an intergalactic space with projections of clusters of stars on the backdrop. As spectacular as it was, the distinguishable whirring hum of Lady Deee-lite’s Miss Kier: “how do you say, Diooor” along with the beat by DJ Honey Dijon – set the tone for the “hypercoloured, hypersurreal” extravaganza.
