DIOR MEN
Since his debut show featuring an enormous floral statue of Monsieur Dior created by American designer and artist Kaws, creative director Kim Jones has established his inclination towards careful collaborations with leading contemporary creative masters. Jones enlisted British painter Peter Doig for his Winter 2021 collection, which the latter extended the partnership to the digital show décor inspired by his artwork Speaker/Girl (2015). The two-level staging, walls, floorings as well as backdrops were covered in a dark blue dreamlike sky depiction that mimicked Doig’s key early painting, Milky Way.
PRADA
The show’s Rem Koolhaas and AMO-designed set – a series of rooms swathed in brilliantly hued shaggy faux fur, marble and resin – reflected the starting point of Raf Simons and Miuccia Prada’s sophomore creative outing. Playing with the idea of freedom of interpretation, it was defined as inviting and seductive, pretending to be both interior and exterior, hard and soft, warm and cold, letting the audience make their own judgements. In line with Prada Group’s sustainability effort, the materials utilised in the set of the A/W ’21 menswear digital show will be upcycled to make product installations and pop-ups around the world, and some to be donated to Milan’s circular economy project, Meta.
