When the doors to The Metropolitan Museum of Art opened on 13th September, the crowd gathered around, hoping to get a glance of how fashion is being portrayed this year and celebrities did not disappoint. Dressed in different colours, some sprinkled the magic of glitter and sapphires while some gave us flowery vibes. Some, however, spoke about important things and they spoke loud.
Following the theme of Met Gala “American Independence”, celebs took the road to showcase fashion that held strong beliefs. Through their dresses, they made sure to voice their crucial opinions and make themselves heard. Here we have some of those looks, read on!
1. TAX THE RICH
Congresswomen Alexandria Ocasio Cortez gave the event a political turn. Although, she looked normal yet stunning from the front while wearing a suffragette white dress with a white tuxedo-like detailing, the show turned when she turned around. With the words “Tax The Rich” in bold red, she made sure to attract as much attention as she could on important issues.
Her dress was designed by Aurora James who is also the creative designer of Brother Vellies. Displaying a step towards economic justice and vocal political fashion made the red carpet even fiercer.
