Growing up in Rome in the late ’70s and early ’80s, Gucci’s Alessandro Michele would often ask his father to take him to the Musei Capitolini (the world’s oldest public museum) where he would while away hours gazing at the ancient relics and Renaissance art on display. Decades later, this cultural complex still exerts a strong hold on Michele’s imagination – the creative director chose to stage his Cruise 2020 show there, and now returns to its hallowed galleries to mine inspiration for this year’s Gucci Décor collection.
