Every great brand loves a good friend and Bulgari’s is Californian model Lily Aldridge. She talks about her undying passion for Italy, her burning desire for emeralds and what the Roman jeweller’s stunning creations truly mean to her.
Those in the know know that Bulgari’s jewels are larger than life. They are often inspired by Rome’s most prominent historical landmarks (the way the B.zero1 takes after the statuesque Colosseum and the Diva, the beautiful Caracalla Baths, for instance), decked with the most colourful of precious gemstones and worn by the silver screen’s most celebrated actresses, from Elizabeth Taylor to Nicole Kidman. The latest to join those ranks is Lily Aldridge (@lilyaldridge), the Californian top model with an equally big Instagram following and bold personality to match. Here, she stars in Bulgari’s new campaign fittingly entitled Larger than Life, and talks about her newfound relationship with the Roman house and its many remarkable creations.
How do you feel about being Bulgari’s new brand ambassador?
Bulgari covets its status as “jeweller to the stars”, so I feel privileged to represent this exquisite maison, to be one of those sparkling stars in their constellation. Bulgari is such an inspiring brand and, in a way, it was already familiar to me because I feel connected, somehow, to its daring spirit and its unmistakable charisma. Bulgari’s Italian soul brings joy and life, and I hope to honour its distinctive approach.
