Hanya Seah is no stranger to new beginnings. In 2016, when most jewellers sought nostalgia, she pushed forward, starting her jewellery business, Chez G, one of the first brands to offer customised decorative teeth covers known as grills. Four years on, she takes a look back to how it all began

I am a new age jeweller with an intense love for sneakers and their associated culture.

Take us back to where your story started.

My journey as a jeweller started back in 2016 when I wanted teeth grills but could not find anyone doing them in Singapore. During my exchange semester in Montreal, I was inspired by the relation between people and streetwear, sneakers, hip-hop culture and flashy jewellery.
