It’s a warm sunny Friday afternoon in the newly restored Kwai Chai Hong at Lorong Panggung in Kuala Lumpur’s Chinatown where I am reacquainted with Malaysian model Rubini Sambanthan. The last time we worked together was back in 2018 for BAZAAR’s September issue. At that point, she had just finished filming the reality TV show Asia’s Next Top Model Cycle 6. “It was truly an honour to represent Malaysia on a global platform,” says the 28-year-old model. “The experience definitely opened up so many doors for me, not just in Malaysia, but also other parts of Asia.”
