In launching the latest Rouge Dior offering, Ultra Care, Peter Philips, Dior’s creative and image director, thought a lot about lips. Philips is the artistic force behind each of the brand’s new lippies, so making lips look good is a no-brainer for him. This time he focused on how to make them feel good. He’s become a bona fide expert on the matter and, luckily for us, he’s eager to share his knowledge. Here, his ultimate lipstick primer.
Q: How do I prep my lips to ensure lipstick looks fresh, not flaky?
A: Your lips need to be a smooth, hydrated base, so I recommend starting with a lip scrub to gently exfoliate. You may or may not need a nourishing layer to hydrate and plump. For the new Rouge Dior products, Ultra Care, I have added 100 per cent natural-origin caméline [camelina], which is a very concentrated jojoba oil, so you don’t need anything else. Otherwise, a layer of balm or Dior’s Lip Maximiser is a nice prep step.
