For one special day in November, the chill café on the third level of Design Orchard was transformed into a chic venue for Harper’s BAZAAR Singapore’s 20th anniversary celebration and the culmination of the Harper’s BAZAAR Asia NewGen Fashion Award—a fashion competition first launched in 2013 to seek, nurture and equip the next generation of talents with the tools they need to make it in the fashion industry.
As guests walked into the venue, they were greeted by a showcase of the five finalists’ designs, as well as an old-school newsstand where BAZAAR’s 20th anniversary November issue and commemorative postcards were on display. Quaint provision shop goodies and nourishing cold-pressed juices, courtesy of Antidote, were also available for guests who took the chance to get to know the NewGen finalists before the winner, Justin Chua, was announced. The recent graduate of LASALLE College of the Arts won judges over with POLYMORPHISM, his gender-neutral, modular design concept that presented ergonomic multi-functionality and modern urbanity.
