“Staying positive helped me!”

The extraordinary crisis situation the world is in since the past many months has left us all living in uncertainty. But Natasha Naegamvala, Director-Nalini of Nalini ‘N’ Yasmin Salon in Mumbai, knows how to turn around a crisis into an opportunity. The daughter of veteran hairstylist Nalini, Natasha is truly an optimist. She maximised the lockdown period and used the luxury of time to virtually catch up with people, reach out to clients needing her services, do internal trainings and motivate her team members. HAIR interacted with Natasha on her experiences of the lockdown and life in the Covid world. Here are some excerpts:

Living without hair brushes and scissors

Honestly, I didn’t have to struggle during the lockdown at all! Within the chaotic world of what was troubling people, my husband and I gave the luxury of space to each other! We live in a relatively small house, so the maintenance and upkeep was easy to handle. Without sounding philosophical, I believe people should stop complaining and look around to put things into perspective.

And no, I wasn’t missing my scissors and brushes, as I did whatever I could to feel good and productive about myself. I used my time in the most constructive way doing live interactions and consultations for my clients. I wanted them to be able to feel that they could reach out to me.

My indulgence during lockdown

Cooking has been a love of mine and I’ve always enjoyed it but the lockdown made it a chore for me, as my husband can only boil water or make eggs! However, I got the opportunity to indulge in yoga and that gave me the fulfillment. My husband is a yoga teacher, so he had the luxury of using me as his model for his online classes for demonstration!
