Packing light is not just an option nowadays. It’s a necessity. Proper sanitisation and hygiene measures paired that with the need of making every shot insta-worthy makes styling your hair quite a task. Well, we answer all your hair queries and bring you a host of hairstyles, quick fixes and products to upgrade your travel hair kit. Be the talk of the town with your shiny mane this season, that too on the go.THINGS TO REMEMBER
1. It’s common knowledge that a weather check is always mandatory before you travel not just for packing clothes but also when it comes to hair and skin. A quick hair prep based on the weather (humid or cold) keeps your hair safe and prevents those strands from falling off.
2. Additionally, treatments involving heat or chemicals are best snubbed before you take off since these treatments may leave the hair brittle and prolonged exposure to the sun may do lasting damage to your hair.
3. If you’ve been eyeing a particular haircut then it’s best to end up on the stylists’ chair at least seven days in advance so that your mane gets some time to grow into the new style.
WHY DO I PREP MY HAIR?
Probably the most important parts of all, prepping your hair before you go jet setting saves you the chance of goofing up and ruining those precious moments of your trip. Your prep routine largely depends on the type of hair you have.
Dry hair: For those with dry hair, it’s highly advisable to make sure your hair gets a hearty dose of moisture beforehand so that they can bear the brunt of travelling with minimal damage. If you’re someone who’s short on time, then a quick overnight oiling session with virgin coconut oil a day or two before the trip should suffice. However, if you’ve got some extra time on hand, then we’d highly recommend you to do a deep moisturising hair treatment that’ll keep your ends soft and shiny. And, if you’re a ‘natural only’ girl, then all you’ve got to do is crack a couple of eggs and mix in some mayonnaise to give your hair a protein and moisture-filled treat that’ll leave a lasting effect for at least a week. Just make sure you use a gentle shampoo, later on, to get rid of the smell.
