Reeth Mazumder is one of the few indian actresses who have made a successful transition from Bollywood to world cinema. She is also known by the moniker ‘Festival Girl’, following her films became favourites at various international film festivals. She started modelling and became the face for several leading brands. At the same time, she bagged the lead role in an indo-italian film, visible Bra Strap. this film was showcased in 25 international film festivals and won critical acclaim and awards. in conversation with Gi Correspondent, she talks about her journey from Bollywood to world cinema and her current projects.
Enlighten us on your journey from Modelling to Bollywood Modelling was never a part of my plan if I made any at all. My first assignment was Lakmé and then good brands like Fiama, Listerine, Panasonic, Archies etc kept following. They were mostly glossy and beautiful ads but I always craved for more drama in my performances. I was always an actor within. I auditioned for an Indo Italian film amongst many known faces from the Hindi and South Indian film industry and finally I signed the film after three rounds of audition. That film changed my life. Not only the film won 25 international Awards but it also gave me immense satisfaction.
Interpret something about your latest film “A Scandall” happened when I was shooting in Paris for a film. I got a call about this project and as soon as I returned to India I was given the narration. My choice of work had been quite indifferent, I usually follow niché concepts. ‘A Scandall’ had something very sensitive about it. Incest as an intricate part of the story. Like my other projects this one also had a twist in the tale.
