Chandigarh lad Gurpreet Saini has his hands full of Bollywood and television assignments. He is currently playing the lead in popular web series titled ‘Weekends’ and is ready to launch his first book of poetry.

The journey of Chandigarh born and bred, Gurpreet Saini an actor, lyricist and poet into performing arts began when he joined DAV College in Sector 10 and spent most of his days on stage performing as an actor for the DAV dramatics clubAaghaaz. He was also the core member of the theatre company ‘Manchtantra’ where he experimented with collaborating theater with dance and music. Gurpreet is now well settled in Mumbai-the city of dreams and has his hands brimming over with some plump assignments. We get him talking about the latest up his front.

Recalling his days spent doing theatre in Chandigarh, Gurpreet says, “I remember, we did musicals like-Painter Babu, Jab Shehar Hamara Sota Hai and Salt n Pepper which were much appreciated by the audiences and these were plays which were instrumental in changing the dull scenario of theatre in the city beautiful back then. But it was never on my mind to take up acting as a profession because I always wanted to join the Indian Armed forces. But as luck would have it, during my Manchtantra days, I was introduced to late Jaspal Bhatti who offered me my first television show ‘Thank you Jijaji’ which was aired on Sab tv. So under his guidance and with support from my parents I moved to Mumbai.”
