While it can be nerve-wracking, you’ll never get to know new people unless you, well, actually talk to them. Sure, you can ask your hostess for a job like passing around munchies, but why not move past those wallflower worries and (smoothly) join the pack? Do it with a quick compliment and question. (Try: “Oh, I love your necklace. So how do you know Olivia?”) Boom—you’re in.
