Ditch the Friend Drama!

Hint: It starts with what you say—and how you say it.
Ditch the Friend Drama!

You and your bestie are thisclose, which means you can say anything to her...or so you thought. But no matter how tight your bond may be, it’s smart to have a filter when it comes to touchy topics. Here’s how to serve up honesty in a way that’s helpful—not hurtful.

“WHAT DO YOU EVEN SEE IN THEM?

Your bestie is head over heels for someone who is not your fave, and you think she’s way too good for them. Still, it’s best to keep your thoughts to yourself unless you have a legit reason for her to run far, far away. (Think: They drink, do other illegal stuff or are flat-out not nice.) Simply telling your bud her crush is bad news because you don’t like them will most likely just make her mad—and make you look jealous.

SPEAK YOUR TRUTH

If you have a sinking feeling about her bae (plus evidence to back it up), tell your friend exactly what you know. Don’t toss in any personal opinions—just stick to the facts. Then, once you pass on the info, trust that your girl will do what’s right for her.

“YOU KNOW YOU’RE TERRIBLE AT [SUCH-ANDSUCH THING], RIGHT?”

Your pal dreams of being the next Billie Eilish. Only prob? She can carry a tune about as well as a pigeon. So when she tells you she wants to sing “everything I wanted” at your school’s talent show, you have to tell her how she sounds...right?

SPEAK YOUR TRUTH
