The Garden Of Style

Maybe you’re a devotee of the luxury fashion house. Maybe you’re not. Whatever it is, one trip to the Gucci Garden Galleria will convert you or make you fall in love with the heritage of the brand. And smitten I certainly was. Fresh offthe hustle of Milan Fashion Week Spring/Summer 2020, I was taken on an excursion to Florence to visit the gallery. It was a two-hour train ride out of Milan and the weather couldn’t have been any more perfect. Picture blue skies with fluffy cotton-candy clouds in the background against exquisite European Renaissance architecture. While I was feeling a bit worn out from the busy week before, the excitement of the trip lifted my spirits and kept me going.

Upon arriving at the train station in Florence, we walked for 20 minutes towards Piazza della Signoria where the gallery was located, and once we arrived, I was completely pumped up to discover more about the brand.

Not exactly a garden per se, the Gucci Garden Galleria is a revamped space of what used to be the Gucci Museum. Birthed by the brand’s Creative Director, Alessandro Michele, it is now an exhibition space that displays the House’s archives and multi-faceted history, curated by critic and curator Maria Luisa Frisa. It’s also an homage to Alessandro’s extraordinary talent and imagination, featuring his personal memories as well as those of the brand.
