HEA HEYA HAIR SALON
WHERE: B01 GROUND FLOOR, SUNSURIA FORUM @7TH AVENUE, NO. 1 JALAN SETIA DAGANG, SETIA ALAM, 40170 SHAH ALAM, SELANGOR. TEL: 03-50319533
If you’re always on the hunt for places or things that you can take pictures of, make Hea Heya your next stop! Strategically located in the latest hot spot in Setia Alam that is Sunsuria Forum, this salon is one of a kind, which you’d most probably never have expected to see in the Klang Valley so soon. Officially launched last month, the main section of this salon caters to every woman’s hair needs, but there’s also a small partitioned area where guys can get their haircut and man needs taken care of. The interior of this salon emulates the concept of boutique salons that are currently on the rise in Korea and Japan, but at the same time, it incorporates the stylish needs of what Malaysian women are most in love with – books, cafes, colourful aesthetics and Instagram. Incorporating furniture that was custom made overseas, the salon’s founder, Jason Lam explains that other important factors that he took into consideration when setting up this space were the lighting and music. “I decided to specially request for a slot on the ground floor facing the street as I wanted to make full use of the natural sunlight that’s available here. That’s also why I chose bright yellow and white lights so that the space will remain bright all day long,” he explains. “The white lights are for practical reasons so that the stylists and customers can see the real colour that comes out after every treatment. In terms of music, I went ahead with acoustic tunes that will make anyone who walk in feel as if they’re in a cafe.”
The main difference between Hea Heya and other salons is that their customers’ hair health is their priority at all times. In other words, if a customer wants to get a particular colour or style done but the stylist strongly feels that it’s going to damage their hair, then it’s a no-go.
“This was exactly one of the reasons why I decided to go back to this salon after trying out their treatment once. Being professionals in the hair care world, Hey Heya focuses mainly on hair colouring using products from Shiseido. Having coloured my hair multiple times last year, it wasn’t a surprise when Jason told me that my hair was extremely damaged and he wasn’t willing to take the risk to colour my hair in the shade that I wanted (which was coral) as it required multiple rounds of bleaching which would further damage it. Instead, he opted to use Shiseido Professional’s latest colour range – Colour Muse. To my surprise, he did manage to give me a funky hair makeover (in the end, I walked home with a pink-based unicorn-coloured hair!) and the entire process took only four hours in total! The main difference between the Colour Muse range and other products used in the market is that this range locks in the moisture in my hair after every colouring treatment, therefore making my strands feel less oily for longer.” – Vasenta
The salon can fit up to 10 people (with three stylists and two assistants) in one go. To make an appointment, all you need to do is drop Hea Heya a message on Facebook (@hea heya saloń) or Instagram (@hea_heya).
