ELLE India and ALDO, in conversation with three powerful women, on all things fearless and strong
Making A Statement With Aldo

ALDO has been a frontrunner in the accessory game for a long time for women from different walks of life. ELLE and ALDO are bound together in their commitment to recognising powerful women and aiding their ambitions. For this unique

JANHVI KAPOOR

As a Bollywood actress who’s climbing the success ladder with each film, Janhvi Kapoor needs no introduction. Her film choices are refreshing, her fashion game is on point, and she’s clearly hungry for more.

ELLE: What makes you feel powerful?

Janhvi Kapoor (JK): What makes me feel truly powerful is believing in myself and using my voice to empower others. One of my favourite quotes is by Maya Angelou. It goes, ‘Develop enough courage so that you can stand up for yourself and then stand up for somebody else’. I feel that as an actor, it’s important to use my position of privilege to lend a voice to causes that I support, be it education for underprivileged children or women’s empowerment.

ELLE: Who has been your biggest inspiration?

JK: I have always been inspired by strong and powerful women. My mother, who was a very successful actor, made a compelling mark as a reigning and shining star, off-screen and on-screen. Observing her and seeing how she conducted herself taught me a lot about being graceful, strong and confident. Over the years, I have taken inspiration from many powerful women in my life, as well as collaboration, ELLE and ALDO got together with three strong and fierce women who shared their honest opinions on freedom, power, and more. From Janhvi Kapoor, to Mallika Sadani and Namrata Purohit, here are their stories from other greats such as Oprah Winfrey, Falguni Nayar, Maya Angelou, Serena Williams, Michelle Obama, Sudha Murthy and more.
