EYES WIDE OPEN
While graphic eyeliner is a regular on the runways, this season's take on the dramatic style uses negative space to extend the waterline, elongating the eye. On the lower lid, the line begins closer to the inner corner, and juts out in a neat line from the outer corner, while on the upper lid, the liner flicks upward to match the angle of the lower line, and both lines do not meet.
Across the SS 22 runways, Dior's high-contrast take on the look featured charcoal liner on a clean face, matching the space-age vibe of the collection. With the colour-blocked pieces in orange, pea, and neon pink, the eyeliner was reminiscent of '60s mod makeup, while with the monochromatic pieces, floating liner took on a more sophisticated, edgy feel. The house also tailored each look to the model's natural eye shape. Some variations of the upper liner had a more angled flick, and on others, it was lengthened to keep the impression of an elongated waterline.
